Lite-On making internal Xbox 360 Blu-ray Drive

Digitimes reports that Lite-On is supposedly developing a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360. The BD-Rom drive would be built-in.

Microsoft ditches HD-DVD, and goes Blu-Ray!

Microsoft JUST announced that, starting August 18th, they will no longer ship the 360 with the HD-DVD player, instead they will be bundled with a Blu-Ray player, all systems will cost 75$ more.They also announced that people with a 360 can send it in and have the HD-DVD player replaced for Blu-Ray for an extra charge of 50$. Lite-On developing Blu-ray drives for Xbox 360

Lite-On IT is developing built-in Blu-ray Disc-(BD) ROM drives for the Microsoft Xbox 360 game console, according to industry sources. Lite-On declined to comment, citing client confidentiality. Lite-On’s shipments of the BD ROMs to Microsoft will start in the second half of 2008, the sources added.

Australians get ripped on price & features again… by DELL!

Dell is joining the club of companies taking advantage of the lack of competition in pricing or features in the Australian tech world. Dell offers the Inspiron 1525 in the US complete with Blu-Ray for $950AUD, but sneakily removes the blu-ray as it crosses the pacific. The alternative is the Inspiron 1520, which has a Blu drive, but costs $1600AUD.
